Teaching on what sexual abuse is, what are healthy boundaries around abuse, how do we navigate relationships as Christians with the abused and the abuser and a how to find a path forward.
What is God's plan for sex? How do I navigate the constant barrage of sexual information coming at me in school, media, and the outside world? My parents are not comfortable talking about sex, where do I go to better understand my body and what is going on with me? As a single person, how do I navigate some of the negative messages of shame from unhelpful “purity culture” messages? What is the right way to think about sex and not be ashamed of its place in our lives? Where do I get help when I'm constantly drawn into masturbation or pornography?
Let’s review and go deeper. Where do I feel closest to God? What does it look like to be more deeply connected? How do I explore the different spiritual disciplines to figure out what works for me? What does it look like, to just BE? How do I explore the different places in the bible where God invites me in, wants me to be close, helps me to feel safe?
Review the practice of Validation: What is empathy and how do I get there? Practice reflecting and validation. Dealing with defensive listening and finger pointing. How do I bring myself to feel and identify my emotions? How does genuinely sharing and listening communicate the depth of what we value in marriage?
What do couples do when they have different levels of sexual libido/desire? What affects low desire? How does validation directly help how I initiate sexually and how I respond to my spouse's initiating? With so many life issues stamping out desire, how do we carve a path to ongoing intimacy in the face of aging, infidelity, past trauma, resentment or sickness? When should we seek counseling and outside help?
